A Fluffy Gray Weekend

When the weather is like this, I try to think of the clouds as a soft, fluffy, gray blanket. That works pretty well through most of the winter, especially if you compare winter in Seattle to winter in Michigan.

Around this time of year, though, it starts to feel like a cold, wet, soggy gray blanket.

It even snowed for a few minutes, earlier today. What the heck?

It's looking like it will be a soft, fluffy, gray weekend. Fortunately, I've got a couple of books I've been meaning to read. I gave Scarecrow 'Unseen Academicals' by Terry Pratchett for winter solstice, and he finished it a while ago. I always try to give books I want to read to people who will loan them back to me when they're done. Am I clever, or what? Since Scarecrow and Tuffy are equally clever, we usually have a book trading round robin after every holiday. I've also got 'The Time Travelers Wife' by Audrey Niffenegger. I had it on hold at the library, but after three months I was all the way up to number 364 out of 493 on the hold list, and I got tired of waiting. I found a bargain paperback (I'm such a tightwad) and I was already paying shipping on Scarecrow's birthday present anyway, so what the heck. I get crazy like that sometimes. I don't think it's Scarecrow's kind of book, but Tuffy might like it.

I'm ready for soft, fluffy gray winter to turn into soft, fluffy gray spring. This is Seattle, after all.

  1. Your eyes are getting sleepy...you feel deeply relaxed...now repeat after me...Zoom says this is a soft, fluffy, gray blanket...soft, fluffy, gray blanket...probably a gang of narrow dogs wrapped up in there somewhere...soft, fluffy, gray blanket...

This native isn't so sure and is definitely feeling the soggy version more but will give it a whirl.

  2. The Time Travelers Wife kept my head spinning trying to remember where in time what I was reading was depicting.

It was an interesting read although I thought some areas were done in too much detail and others not enough. Let me know how you like it.

I just finished reading The Kite Runner - rather heavy subject wise.

    Hope you stay warm

  3. I actually got my 15 minutes of sun today at 7:30am. BRIGHT, warm, sun! Seattle is complex, a mistress that flirts with you. "Come and get me, but hurry or I'm gone!" (Mistress because your spouse is usually gray and misty wet. LOL) I love Seattle though. I love the gray, the clouds, the rain. I love it all. The cool temps help my MS too.

  4. I want to read the Time Traveler's Wife, too. A friend of mind recommended it, so I Googled it and found someone described it as "a love story concealed inside a suspense novel wrapped in a thin veneer of science fiction" all of which I like. sounds like it would keep me on my toes reading that one! Also I get delusional sometimes about the weather, too, when it sucks for too long.
