Hang Time

It's almost a straight shot from the kitchen, through the living room, and down the hall. At first you just hear the thunder of whippet feet as they race through the kitchen, then the skratchel of their nails (whippets are hell on hardwood floors) as they accelerate towards the bedroom and gather themselves to leap…

………

I've had this post partly written, in my head, since about the time I put up my last post. I just didn't want to write it. The longer I waited, the more I felt I should write something. I started to feel kind of bad about it. My initial intention of having a blog where I could scribble down the casual observation du jour had become an obligation where I felt compelled to submit a tidily packaged essay. An obligation!

Well, that does it. Time for a blog sabbatical.

I don't know how long it will be. Setting a date for my next post feels kind of obligation-y, so I'm not going to do that. If I'm not back before the holidays, whatever you celebrate this time of year, have a wonderful, festive season.

I'll be back.

  2. Zoom, we all go through dry spells (especially me this year.) I propose for your consideration that you take my button, which I got elsewhere, called Blogging Without Obligation. After all, this little endeavor should be relatively painless, and not an onerous task to check off our to-do list. Take a break, have some tea, read some tomes. Be glad for our dry Winter, and have great holidays. We'll see you when we see you.

  4. Have a great festive season yourself - and I so get that blogging should not feel like an obligation.

  5. I completely support the blogging without obligation concept but selfishly I'll miss one of my favorite bloggers.

Ironically I'm struggling with the blogging thing as well. Partially as I have little time or energy left over with recent events and what's going on seems too raw and personal for Internet prime time.

Good holidays and see you when the urge to blog returns!

  6. Zoomer - Cranky here.... taking a break is a great idea if it's becoming an obligation for you. I was glad to take a break and found I missed blogging after a while so am glad to be back doing it sporadically.

    Have a wonderful christmas!

  7. I think we amateur bloggers all go through this. I have sworn to quit my blog SO MANY times. 2012 I am cutting way back. The guilt of not reading OTHER blogs is so heavy! But until I finish my book...I must do it. If I didn't have MS...an excuse but true, I could do both. Time to accept my writing limitations. Our blogs will still remain an we can return in a YEAR if we want! FAF Forever a friend, Diane
Peace, Joy, and relaxation in the coming year.
